2nd June – Day 52
Bed at 04:00 and up at 07:30 – feel like sh1t…! But get showered and meet Cameron at 8ish for a taxi and another plane back to Sydney – its still raining, don’t like Canberra.
We can’t get a taxi for love nor money and its still raining. Cameron, framed award certificate under his arm, flags down a taxi and scrounges a lift – its still raining.
We offer to pay the shocked passengers fare if he lets us share his cab to the airport – he agrees, it’s still raining and we jump in thanking whoever will listen.
We arrive and hit the Qantas lounge for breakfast as Mrs and Mrs Bousfield – her card allows me, sorry her, to take in a guest. We eat, decide that what we can smell is….well us….we smell very strongly of alcohol and yes, it’s still raining. Best toast, juice and coffee ever.
We board a Dash 8 at 09:45 and its raining. The plane thing is interesting, I have gone from a 767 to a 737 to a Dash 8, at this rate of reducing size the next plane I catch will be an Airfix model built by Lewis and Ross…!
We take off on time and it’s still raining, we smell so badly of alcohol that noone sits near us. Good flight and landing, lovely to see Sydney from the air, as we land, on a clear day – yes its stopped raining.
Taxi back to the unit and then off to the city before a taxi ride to St Leonard’s, where I meet Richard for a panel interview of a couple of candidates for a General Manager position within our JV, (Joint Venture), contract.
All goes well, we make someone’s day before I taxi back to the unit for a tidy up, left the place in a mess, some typing, (Blog Update), and an early bed after calling the family – not in.
