16th April - Day 5
Get up and have breakfast at 8am. Go to Corrugated Café, (famous bike stop over but shut), and Specialist Horse shop, everybody very nice.
Leave at 11:30 and head back to CBD. Get call from Peter Sidhom who invites me over to his house in Campsie – thank god for Sat Nav. Arrive and meet his wonderful family, Mum, Dad, Vivian (Big Sister) husband Gabby, Steff, (little Sister) and her friends Natalie and Mary.
Next I am invited to Easter Dinner and feel quite humbled to be sharing such a special meal with them as they are quite a religious family. Meal excellent and traditional Egyptian, (duck wonderful – it had been slaughtered only that morning and prepared by Pete’s Mum who is really nice despite being a ‘duck killer…!).
Finish by smoking Hubbly Bubbly pipe, (legal substances Inc Apple, Melon and Strawberry tobacco which is only 0.05% nicotine).
After a wicked afternoon and blether I hit the roads to prepare for the Waratahs v Brumbies Rugby, Sat Nav saves the day again.
Carmell calls at 6ish and I meet her down stairs. Carmell is one of Richards ex colleagues who like everybody else over here makes me feel very welcome. We set off walking and just as we arrive I discover that I am inappropriately dressed as we are guests and therefore going to situated within the Presidents Enclosure. Taxi home, Carmell leaves her scarf in the cab and shoot back in time for drinks, fireworks and start. She is good company and makes me laugh.
The match starts at quite some pace and is a wicked battle– with the half time score 14 all – it finishes 37: 14 to the Waratahs. I never thought that I would see David Lyons, Lote Tuqiri, George Gregan, Steve Larkham and Mat Rogers. After the match we hit the town with some of Carmell’s friends, (Steve and John). I am Jet Lagged, Tired and very Drunk loose Carmell and co. and taxi home at about 12:30. Again a good nights sleep – again nothing to do with the drink….!
