24th May – Day 43 Trains, Planes, Taxi’s and Keys...!
Get up and discover that I have left my car keys in David’s car and he has left for work to mend a server with a hammer, (I am sure that Ctrl, Alt delete would work). I have to get a taxi and to work due to the key issue, leaving my car, unfortunately, in a parking bay which delivers me a $75 parking fine…..
The day only improves when I am offered tickets, by the wonderful Pete Sherlock, (he had been upgraded to a private box), to the 1st State of Origin NFL match at the Telstra Olympic Stadium which was nearly sold out – 73,000 are packed in for the night of fun.
I invite Dave and Sarah kindly drives us to the stadium. The match is excellent and ends excitingly with NSW beating Queensland by a last minute Field Goal, 15 – 14. Dave is great company and we have a laugh, in addition our seats are behind where the cheer leaders are sitting – the distraction meant that we missed large elements of the game – but at the end of the day it is ART!
Afterwards we meet Pete for a thankyou beer and leave at about 12. We cants get a taxi for under $100, so we get a train and watch some fighting which was fun.
We get back to their house and sit on the balcony chatting before hitting the pillow. That’s 4 nights out of the last 5 that I have slept at theirs – my tab will be huge.
