26th May – Day 45
Up at 5 and in my taxi at 5:45 and meet Mark at the Airport. Enjoy half an hour in the Qantas Lounge before we take to the air.
We arrive on time and Taxi to the CBD area of Brisbane. After a coffee we head off to our 10:30 meeting only to discover that there has been a fire drill and we join the end of the longest queue of people in the world all trying to back into their respective area in the 22 storey building…deep joy.
We finally make it with one minute to spare; you can plan for most things but not fire drills….
Anyway very positive meeting, we finished at 11:30 and amazingly caught the 12:15 flight home. Cheekily we even tried to have a coffee but that was cut short when our names were called over the tannoy as we were holding up the departure of the flight, we legged it and just caught it.
Back in the city it was onwards and upwards with the Energex tender until it was Beer O’clock which continued for me until about 12:30 – I chatted to Pete, (of State of Origin ticket fame), over a number of beers all night. I seem to always be walking home from work, on a Friday night, worse for wear with a suit on and a lap top over my shoulder. Cant remember what time I went to bed or actually how I went to bed…..
