16th June – Day 66 – Poker Night
Today’s the day of the World Amateur Poker Championships at my unit and my first Yum Cha, more later.
I am in CBD today for a number of meetings with Cameron, Matt and Mark. At lunchtime we go for a Yum Cha, its based on a Chinese Restaurant theme where you all sit down and grab different dishes from the numerous trolleys that fly past – its great fun and all 16 of us have a laugh trying a number of different delicacies and chatting about everything from World Politics to the poor English Rugby performance. We all eat loads and with drinks the whole experience has cost me $25 about £10…!
We head back to the office and get some more work done before Beer O’clock arrives, well it is Friday, and then we hit the Art House for a couple before meeting at the Edinburgh Castle, for another drink, and to meet the rest of the Pokeries ready for the night ahead of gambling, drinking and fun.
Before hitting the unit we head for the Bottle, tobacco and food shop for supplies. Fully stocked we arrive and set up at my unit and soon the fun has begun.
Highlights of the evening include;
· Me not winning any of the 6 rounds
· All seven of us singing we all live in a yellow submarine, on the balcony, at 1in the morning
· Lots of beer and whiskey being drunk
· Fat cigars being smoked
· Lots of banter and laughs
Everything finishes at about 3, last to leave left at about 4 – bed at 5
