19th – 25th June – Day 69 to 75
CBD mostly this week with a two day trip to Adelaide squeezed into the middle. Adelaide, what a place, the most laid back I have visited since Fran and I Honeymooned in Kenya. The whole place goes at half the speed of the rest of the Country and that includes the cars, taxis, dogs and the people.
This week’s sporting events have mainly evolved around the Socceroos - they lost to Brazil 2-0, the day after the City was empty as everybody has taken the day off, then they went on to draw with Croatia and are through o the last 16 in the World Cup – the place went mad, including your Author – Dave ‘Skippy’ Bacon.
Anyway I am proud to be able to state that I watched it all in a pub called the Three Wise Monkeys from 4.45am.In the famous words of the Clash I was ‘Drinking Brew for Breakfast’ – interesting way to set up myself for a marathon Friday at work, (8am to 10pm…hmmmm).
Other highlights, (lowlights), of the week include standing at the side of the road with Mark on our way back from the Airport on Thursday night as his car went bang and started smoking – the fault was all his as he decided that he wanted to wind both Brendan and I up by playing a CD of well crap English Football songs – all the old rubbish, 3 Sad Lions etc. Anyway the car was Aussie built and decided to give up the ghost, which for about 30 minutes was a laugh, after 2.5 hours we were well pissed off.
Anyway he got towed to a garage and I lent him my car as he was off on holiday for five days, just as he was leaving he got a call from home stating that the Pizza Delivery man had crashed into his house – left the car in gear and well the rest is obvious…..
Its winter here at the moment and I don’t really understand the weather – kindly it rains at night and is sunny most of the time during the day, cant complain really – just thought that I would get my own back on everyone that keep telling me how warm England is, just you wait to your winter which will be around in about 6 weeks.
Went to my Thai cookery class on Tuesday night and we had a giggle, wicked food, (Duck and Pork dishes, followed by a rice pudding sort of dish steamed inside a Pumpkin with sugar, served with a slice of sweet pumpkin – all washed down with Red Wine, niccceeee). Its our last session next week which is a shame as we have been having quite a laugh with all the follow Ken Hom's, Mosman Mum’s, (read bossy Jewish Princess), and Ting Tong – our beloved leader.
Anyway I hope that you have all enjoyed the streamlined weekly update and look forward to reading all your comments, oh no I wont cos none of you leave them apart from some Scottish Squaddie with nothing better to do, probably drinking, in a tent, in the middle of Germany – thanks Ally.
I’m off down the pub now to watch the Wallabies v Ireland match, L8ers
