20th November – 27th November – Days 223 to 229
What have I been up to this week in Barmy Army Ashes Land?
England head to Australia........
1882 - Hayden, Langer, Gilchrist, Martyn, Warne, McGrath and Ponting arrive in Oz. Hussey and Clark still only mere pups are awaiting deportation back in mother England
Well I’ve been busy looking for schools and houses for when Fran and the boys arrive on the 22nd of December which has been quite a challenge. I have it narrowed down to Allambie Heights, Narrabeen, Balgowlah, North-Manley, Curl Curl etc…will fill you all in when we decide.
Other than that I have gigged, drank, eaten, socialised, house warmed and sight seen, so no change there then. Oh I have also played tennis – don’t laugh now please.
Gig
I saw Matt C’s school mate’s band, Hell City Glamour’s at Candy’s, (Candy’s - ‘a womb for new talent – an incubator for bands’, give me strength!). They were not as good as they were when I last saw them, but it was still enjoyable and I got rather tipsy. I was informed the next day that I was very ‘entertaining’ which I don’t know if that’s good or bad.
Drank
Yes
Eaten
Had a lovely Sydney pub meal with Sarah & Dave - $8 dollars, that’s about £3.20 in old money, so wrong - how much money are they making in the UK.
Socialised
Daily really, work and pubs seem to go in hand in hand over here, the Brit’s play business golf – the Aussie’s play business drinking…!
House Warmed
A really good day which just got better - which wasn’t difficult as it started domestically. Then Dave and Sarah came round and we went for our $8 pub delight before being joined by Ben and Emma and driving to Pete, Karen and their bairns Dan and Tiana Sherlock’s to celebrate their lovely new house. Pete and Karen BBQ’d, fed and watered us famously on the entertainment deck of their new house overlooking their swimming pool, the Bush and a reservoir.
We had a great evening which finished with us watching Everton (Ben) verses Charlton (Dave), which finished in an entertaining draw……no Dave and Ben were entertaining – not the game.
Sight Seeing
Daily
Tennis
Dave & Sarah and Richard & Helen invited me to join them…soon after I turned up I think they wished they hadn’t…! Oh well I can’t be good at everything.
