2nd October – 12th November – Days 173 to 215

Where do I start, well I have been home to the UK on a business/pleasure trip over the last month and am now back in Sunny (very) Sydney, temperatures up in the mid 30's some days.

The trip home was excellent although didn't get to see half as many people as I would have hoped due to a daily focus on getting the house finished in readiness for the family moving over on the 22nd of December some Christmas present, Christmas day on the beach with them.

The work element involved me visiting sites in Edinburgh, London and Canary Wharf with a key Australian client which went very well. It was good to meet a lot of old friends from RBS Gogarburn and to spend the day introducing the client to the key players there.

I scared Mum and Dad, Lewis and Ross to bits as they were not expecting me which was fun.

The pleasure aspect of my trip involved Painting, plumbing, wiring, tiling roofs, rendering, treating damp, plastering, digging, cutting, cleaning, tidying out stuff, painting, glossing, wall paper removal, carpentry, gardening and drilling. The up side was that I was a Dad and a Husband and spent some good time with the Fran and the boys catching up.

Plastered - 5 mtrs up, on a wobbly platform, would you be happy.....

I also managed to get to Birmingham and Nottingham to see the old team and an old friend from Boots, to the rugby club, (although not as often as I would have liked), and to a number of good friends who have all been helping Fran out in my absence, Geezer, Mr Andrew & Sliza, the Abbots Ripton crew, John and Nonna, Dusty & Ow Fraaan, Wee Man & Bruv etc.

I was also lucky to have been able to get to see my old Coaching responsibilities, St Ives Under 14's, who under the stewardship of two old Saracens fans have developed into a wonderful unit displaying some superb flowing and direct rugby. My thanks go out to Martin, Neil/Tom and the team for the kind gift of a coach's shirt which was part of a new sponsorship deal from SDC.

A word from our sponsor - Southern Doors & Cubicles, the only place to look for your door and cubicle needs. SDC operate from their 11.000 sq ft warehouse in Colchester, Essex they are ideally based for distributing their quality doors & innovative cubicles all over England. Contact their top sales man Martin 'you wont find me in the forwards' Whiteside soon. He can generally be found in the backs combing his hair, as he avoids any 'nasty' forward action which would lead to dirty shorts and messy hair.

Sadly there are a lot of people who I didn't manage to catch up whom, in some cases, probably wont speak to me ever again; my apologies go out to Basil, Lunchbox, R Reddy, Dis & Dat productions, Johnny W, who all know who they are, and a number of other people who I don't have nick-names and I wouldn't like to break any data protection confidentially rules by printing their full names.

I know I let you down and I promise that you will be the first I see when I next get home; again my apologies, a white dove and an olive branch to you all.

On my way home I stopped over in Singapore for a superb night out with Cameron and Dee who spoilt me rotten and looked after me wonderfully. On entry to Singapore I broke every rule in the book through my ignorance, I imported chewing gum, (banned in Singapore - $1000 fine), and duty free cigarettes, (punishable by hanging of which they still carry out at a frequency of about one a week). They also fine you $1000 if you ride a bike over a bridge or through an underpass, what's that all about!

Cameron and Dee sheltering when we got caught in a monsoon which soaked us all - but we dried in 10 minutes when it finished as it was so hot.
PS Cameron is'nt desperate for the loo, he's just trying to hold up his trousers to stop them getting wetter

And then I was on my way to Sidney where I was met by the Sydney Faithful, Dave & Sarah and Richard & Helen, who came to see if I was alive and well. I was but they had been drinking since lunchtime celebrating Helen's Birthday. Sarah & Dave had stocked my fridge with a multitude of food stuffs which was excellent so I can relax, eat and sleep without shopping.

My welcoming committee, Richard & Dave, being suported by their understanding partners, Sarah & Helen!

At midnight it was off to bed, with the thoughts of that detox programme I need to start to rid my body of three weeks of sleep deprivation and alcohol abuse, too much blood in my alcohol stream!
