12th March – 18th March – Days 336 to 343
Hi All, latest update for you all, bit wordy this week but substance is important sometimes.
New Job, brickie…not!
Laing O’Rourke have decided that they want to educate the Australian Market and concentrate on building structures, (shouldn’t be too difficult to shine going by the performance, or lack of it, of Multiplex at Wembley!), and not Facilitating Managing them – thus they have decided to sell the division that I was working for – the award winning Mowlem Asset Services – to one of our Joint Venture Partners, Sodexho. I had the opportunity of staying with Laing O’Rourke, but failed the brick laying test.
Seventh Heaven
What this means to me is that I will receive my seventh business card in nine years, without ever resigning from a company – takeover after takeover.
Bonjour
Anyway, Sodexho turn-over about £6 billion pounds; employ 300,000 people across 80 odd countries. Their key focus has always been food but they have over the last few years increased their scope of work to encompass Integrated Facilities Management on the world stage. Only concern is that they are French owned
I’m Still Me
I keep the same title, reasonability’s and employment package, sit in the same Sydney City Office and work with the same people, but have a new boss who is Australian where as Richard, was a Kiwi. I will miss the old company, or more importantly the people that I will no longer work with, but ultimately I will stay in touch with them.
Car
I have yet another new car, (bus), on the way which is a 4x4 with seven seats which means that we can get everybody who visits in at the airport or when we visit the beach – sorted.
North Curl Curl, I love it
Right boring stuff finished, the family is doing really well and enjoying all that is Australia and the Northern Beaches which are wicked. The boys and Fran hit the sea regularly; I make sure that I do at least twice a week as well.
North Curl Curl beach is the only beach set back from the main beach roads on the North Shore in Sydney, The beach was the main holiday location for many Western Suburb residents in the early 1950's, who ended up moving over to North Curl Curl and started their families. That’s why North Curl Curl is a family club and the hub of our new community.
